사사기 1장 [킹제임스]

1. 1 After the death of Joshua, the Israelites asked the LORD, "Who will be the first to go up and fight for us against the Canaanites?"

   1 한편 여호수아가 죽은 뒤에 이스라엘 자손이 주께 여쭈어 이르되, 가나안 족속과 싸우려고 누가 먼저 우리를 위해 그들을 대적하러 올라가리이까? 하니

2. 2 The LORD answered, "Judah is to go; I have given the land into their hands."

   2 주께서 이르시되, 유다가 올라갈지니라. 보라, 내가 그 땅을 그의 손에 넘겨주었노라, 하시므로

3. 3 Then the men of Judah said to the Simeonites their brothers, "Come up with us into the territory allotted to us, to fight against the Canaanites. We in turn will go with you into yours." So the Simeonites went with them.

   3 유다가 자기 형제 시므온에게 이르되, 내가 제비 뽑은 땅에 나와 함께 올라가서 우리가 가나안 족속과 싸우자. 그러면 나도 마찬가지로 네가 제비 뽑은 땅에 너와 함께 가리라, 하니 이에 시므온이 그와 함께 가니라.

4. 4 When Judah attacked, the LORD gave the Canaanites and Perizzites into their hands and they struck down ten thousand men at Bezek.

   4 유다가 올라가매 주께서 가나안 족속과 브리스 족속을 그들의 손에 넘겨주시므로 그들이 베섹에서 그들 중의 만 명을 죽였고

5. 5 It was there that they found Adoni-Bezek and fought against him, putting to rout the Canaanites and Perizzites.

   5 또 베섹에서 아도니베섹을 만나 그와 싸워 가나안 족속과 브리스 족속을 죽였으나

6. 6 Adoni-Bezek fled, but they chased him and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and big toes.

   6 아도니베섹이 도망하므로 그들이 그를 쫓아가서 그를 붙잡아 그의 엄지손가락과 엄지발가락을 잘랐더니

7. 7 Then Adoni-Bezek said, "Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off have picked up scraps under my table. Now God has paid me back for what I did to them." They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.

   7 아도니베섹이 이르기를, 칠십 명의 왕들이 엄지손가락과 엄지발가락이 잘린 채 내 상 밑에서 먹을 것을 주웠는데 내가 행한 대로 그렇게 하나님께서 내게 갚으셨도다, 하니라. 그들이 그를 예루살렘으로 끌고 가니 거기서 그가 죽었더라.

8. 8 The men of Judah attacked Jerusalem also and took it. They put the city to the sword and set it on fire.

   8 한편 유다 자손이 예루살렘과 싸워 그곳을 빼앗고 칼날로 치며 그 도시를 불살랐고

9. 9 After that, the men of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites living in the hill country, the Negev and the western foothills.

   9 ¶ 그 뒤에 유다 자손이 산과 남쪽과 골짜기에 거하는 가나안 족속과 싸우기 위해 내려갔으며

10. 10 They advanced against the Canaanites living in Hebron (formerly called Kiriath Arba) and defeated Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai.

    10 또 유다가 헤브론에 거하는 가나안 족속을 대적하러 갔는데 (전에 헤브론의 이름은 기럇아르바더라.) 그들이 세새와 아히만과 달매를 죽였더라.

11. 11 From there they advanced against the people living in Debir (formerly called Kiriath Sepher).

    11 그가 거기를 떠나 드빌 거주민들을 대적하러 갔는데 전에 드빌의 이름은 기럇세벨이더라.

12. 12 And Caleb said, "I will give my daughter Acsah in marriage to the man who attacks and captures Kiriath Sepher."

    12 갈렙이 말하기를, 기럇세벨을 쳐서 그곳을 빼앗는 자에게는 내가 내 딸 악사를 아내로 주리라, 하였더니

13. 13 Othniel son of Kenaz, Calebs younger brother, took it; so Caleb gave his daughter Acsah to him in marriage.

    13 갈렙의 동생이요, 그나스의 아들인 옷니엘이 그곳을 빼앗았으므로 갈렙이 자기 딸 악사를 그에게 아내로 주었더라.

14. 14 One day when she came to Othniel, she urged him to ask her father for a field. When she got off her donkey, Caleb asked her, "What can I do for you?"

    14 그녀가 그에게 갈 때에 그를 움직여 자기 아버지에게 밭을 구하게 하였더라. 그녀가 나귀에서 내리니 갈렙이 그녀에게 말하되, 네가 무엇을 원하느냐? 하매

15. 15 She replied, "Do me a special favor. Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me also springs of water." Then Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.

    15 그녀가 그에게 이르되, 내게 복을 주소서. 아버지께서 내게 남쪽 땅을 주셨으니 물 샘들도 내게 주소서, 하매 갈렙이 위쪽 샘들과 아래쪽 샘들을 그녀에게 주었더라.

16. 16 The descendants of Moses father-in-law, the Kenite, went up from the City of Palms with the men of Judah to live among the people of the Desert of Judah in the Negev near Arad.

    16 ¶ 모세의 장인인 그 겐 사람의 자손들이 유다 자손들과 함께 종려나무 도시에서 올라가 아랏의 남쪽에 있는 유다 광야에 이르렀으며 그들이 그 백성 가운데 거하였더라.

17. 17 Then the men of Judah went with the Simeonites their brothers and attacked the Canaanites living in Zephath, and they totally destroyed the city. Therefore it was called Hormah.

    17 유다가 자기 형제 시므온과 함께 가서 스밧에 거주하는 가나안 족속을 죽이고 그곳을 진멸하였으므로 그들이 그 도시의 이름을 호르마라 하였으며

18. 18 The men of Judah also took Gaza, Ashkelon and Ekron--each city with its territory.

    18 또한 유다가 가자와 그곳의 지경과 아스글론과 그곳의 지경과 에그론과 그곳의 지경을 점령하였고

19. 19 The LORD was with the men of Judah. They took possession of the hill country, but they were unable to drive the people from the plains, because they had iron chariots.

    19 주께서 유다와 함께하셨으므로 그가 산의 거주민들을 쫓아내었으나 골짜기 거주민들은 철 병거들을 가지고 있었으므로 쫓아낼 수 없었더라.

20. 20 As Moses had promised, Hebron was given to Caleb, who drove from it the three sons of Anak.

    20 모세가 말한 대로 그들이 헤브론을 갈렙에게 주었더니 그가 거기서 아낙의 세 아들을 쫓아내었더라.

21. 21 The Benjamites, however, failed to dislodge the Jebusites, who were living in Jerusalem; to this day the Jebusites live there with the Benjamites.

    21 베냐민 자손이 예루살렘에 거주하는 여부스 족속을 쫓아내지 아니하였으므로 여부스 족속이 베냐민 자손과 함께 이날까지 예루살렘에 거하느니라.

22. 22 Now the house of Joseph attacked Bethel, and the LORD was with them.

    22 ¶ 요셉의 집, 그들도 벧엘을 대적하러 올라갔는데 주께서 그들과 함께하시니라.

23. 23 When they sent men to spy out Bethel (formerly called Luz),

    23 요셉의 집이 사람을 보내어 벧엘을 정탐하게 하였는데 (전에 그 도시의 이름은 루스더라.)

24. 24 the spies saw a man coming out of the city and they said to him, "Show us how to get into the city and we will see that you are treated well."

    24 그 도시에서 어떤 사람이 나오는 것을 정탐꾼들이 보고 그에게 이르되, 원하건대 도시의 입구를 우리에게 보이라. 그러면 우리가 네게 긍휼을 베풀리라, 하매

25. 25 So he showed them, and they put the city to the sword but spared the man and his whole family.

    25 그가 그들에게 도시의 입구를 보여 주므로 그들이 칼날로 그 도시를 쳤으나 그 사람과 그의 온 가족은 놓아주매

26. 26 He then went to the land of the Hittites, where he built a city and called it Luz, which is its name to this day.

    26 그 사람이 헷 족속의 땅으로 가서 도시를 건축하고 그곳의 이름을 루스라 하였더니 이것이 이날까지 그곳의 이름이 되니라.

27. 27 But Manasseh did not drive out the people of Beth Shan or Taanach or Dor or Ibleam or Megiddo and their surrounding settlements, for the Canaanites were determined to live in that land.

    27 ¶ 므낫세도 벧스안과 그곳 고을들의 거주민들과 다아낙과 그곳 고을들의 거주민들과 도르와 그곳 고을들의 거주민들과 이블르암과 그곳 고을들의 거주민들과 므깃도와 그곳 고을들의 거주민들을 쫓아내지 아니하였으므로 가나안 족속이 그 땅에 거하려 하였는데

28. 28 When Israel became strong, they pressed the Canaanites into forced labor but never drove them out completely.

    28 이스라엘이 강하게 되매 가나안 족속에게 공물을 바치게 하였고 그들을 철저히 쫓아내지는 아니하였더라.

29. 29 Nor did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites living in Gezer, but the Canaanites continued to live there among them.

    29 ¶ 에브라임도 게셀에 거하는 가나안 족속을 쫓아내지 아니하였으므로 가나안 족속이 게셀에서 그들 가운데 거하였으며

30. 30 Neither did Zebulun drive out the Canaanites living in Kitron or Nahalol, who remained among them; but they did subject them to forced labor.

    30 ¶ 스불론도 기드론 거주민들과 나할롤 거주민들을 쫓아내지 아니하였으므로 가나안 족속이 그들 가운데 거하며 공물 바치는 자들이 되었더라.

31. 31 Nor did Asher drive out those living in Acco or Sidon or Ahlab or Aczib or Helbah or Aphek or Rehob,

    31 ¶ 아셀도 악고 거주민들과 시돈 거주민들과 알랍과 악십과 헬바와 아빅과 르홉 거주민들을 쫓아내지 아니하였고

32. 32 and because of this the people of Asher lived among the Canaanite inhabitants of the land.

    32 오히려 아셀 족속이 그 땅 거주민들인 가나안 족속 가운데 거하였으니 이는 그들이 저들을 쫓아내지 아니하였기 때문이더라.

33. 33 Neither did Naphtali drive out those living in Beth Shemesh or Beth Anath; but the Naphtalites too lived among the Canaanite inhabitants of the land, and those living in Beth Shemesh and Beth Anath became forced laborers for them.

    33 ¶ 납달리도 벧세메스 거주민들과 벧아낫 거주민들을 쫓아내지 아니하고 오히려 그 땅 거주민들인 가나안 족속 가운데 거하였으나 그럼에도 불구하고 벧세메스와 벧아낫 거주민들이 그들에게 공물 바치는 자들이 되었더라.

34. 34 The Amorites confined the Danites to the hill country, not allowing them to come down into the plain.

    34 아모리 족속이 단 자손을 산으로 몰아내었으니 이는 단 자손이 골짜기로 내려오는 것을 그들이 허락하려 하지 아니하였기 때문이더라.

35. 35 And the Amorites were determined also to hold out in Mount Heres, Aijalon and Shaalbim, but when the power of the house of Joseph increased, they too were pressed into forced labor.

    35 아모리 족속이 아이얄론에 있는 헤레스 산과 사알빔에 거하려 하였으나 요셉 집의 손이 이겼으므로 그들이 공물 바치는 자들이 되었는데

36. 36 The boundary of the Amorites was from Scorpion Pass to Sela and beyond.

    36 아모리 족속의 지경(地境)은 아그랍빔으로 올라가는 비탈부터, 그 바위부터 시작하여 위로 뻗었더라.
