1. 1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,

   1 한편 주의 종 모세가 죽은 뒤에 주께서 모세의 섬기는 자 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 말씀하여 이르시되,

2. 2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, [even] to the children of Israel.

   2 내 종 모세가 죽었으니 그러므로 이제 너는 이 온 백성과 함께 일어나 이 요르단을 건너 내가 그들 곧 이스라엘 자손에게 주는 땅으로 가라.

3. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

   3 내가 모세에게 말한 것같이 너희 발바닥으로 밟을 모든 곳을 내가 너희에게 주었으니

4. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

   4 광야와 이 레바논에서부터 그 큰 강 곧 유프라테스 강에 이르는 헷 족속의 온 땅과 해 지는 쪽을 향한 대해까지 너희의 지경이 되리라.

5. 5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, [so] I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

   5 네 평생에 아무도 네 앞에 설 수 없으리니 내가 모세와 함께하던 것같이 너와 함께하리라. 내가 너를 떠나지 아니하며 너를 버리지 아니하리니

6. 6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

   6 마음을 강하게 하고 크게 용기를 내라. 내가 이 백성의 조상들에게 맹세하여 그들에게 주겠다고 한 땅을 네가 이 백성에게 상속재산으로 나누어 주리라.

7. 7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it [to] the right hand or [to] the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

   7 오직 너는 마음을 강하게 하고 심히 용감하게 행하여 내 종 모세가 네게 명령한 모든 율법에 따라 지켜 행하며 그것을 떠나 오른쪽으로나 왼쪽으로나 치우치지 말라. 그러면 네가 어디로 가든지 성공하리라.

8. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

   8 너는 이 율법책을 네 입에서 떠나지 말게 하고 밤낮으로 그것을 묵상하여 그 안에 기록된 모든 것에 따라 지켜 행하라. 그러면 네가 네 길을 순탄하게 할 것이며 그러면 네가 크게 성공하리라.

9. 9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God [is] with thee whithersoever thou goest.

   9 내가 네게 명령하지 아니하였느냐? 마음을 강하게 하고 크게 용기를 내라. 두려워하지 말며 너는 놀라지 말라. 네가 어디로 가든지 주 네 하나님이 너와 함께하느니라, 하시니라.

10. 10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

    10 ¶ 이에 여호수아가 백성의 직무 수행자들에게 명령하여 이르되,

11. 11 Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.

    11 군대의 한가운데를 지나가며 백성에게 명령하여 이르기를, 너희는 양식을 예비하라. 사흘 안에 너희가 이 요르단을 건너 주 너희 하나님께서 너희에게 주사 소유하게 하시는 땅을 소유하러 들어가리라, 하라, 하니라.

12. 12 And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,

    12 ¶ 또 여호수아가 르우벤 족속과 갓 족속과 므낫세 지파의 절반에게 말하여 이르되,

13. 13 Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.

    13 주의 종 모세가 너희에게 명령하여 이르기를, 주 너희 하나님께서 너희에게 안식을 주셨고 이 땅을 너희에게 주셨느니라, 하였으니 그 말을 기억하라.

14. 14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;

    14 너희 아내들과 어린것들과 가축은 모세가 요르단 이쪽에서 너희에게 준 땅에 머무를 것이나 너희 모든 강한 용사들은 무장하고 너희 형제들보다 앞서 건너가 그들을 돕되

15. 15 Until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as [he hath given] you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD'S servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.

    15 주께서 너희에게 안식을 주신 것같이 너희 형제들에게 안식을 주사 그들도 주 너희 하나님께서 그들에게 주시는 땅을 소유하게 될 때까지 그들을 도울지니라. 그 뒤에 너희가 너희 소유의 땅 즉 주의 종 모세가 요르단 이쪽 곧 해 뜨는 쪽에서 너희에게 준 땅으로 돌아가 그것을 차지할지니라, 하니

16. 16 And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.

    16 ¶ 그들이 여호수아에게 응답하여 이르되, 당신이 우리에게 명령하는 모든 것을 우리가 행할 것이요, 당신이 우리를 어디로 보내든지 우리가 가리이다.

17. 17 According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.

    17 우리가 모든 일에 모세의 말에 귀를 기울인 것같이 그렇게 당신의 말에 귀를 기울이겠나이다. 오직 주 당신의 하나님께서 모세와 함께하시던 것같이 당신과 함께하시기를 원하나이다.

18. 18 Whosoever [he be] that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.

    18 누구든지 당신의 명령을 거역하며 당신이 명령하는 모든 것에 관해 당신의 말들에 귀를 기울이지 아니하는 자는 죽임을 당하리니 오직 마음을 강하게 하고 크게 용기를 내소서, 하니라.
